We are fast approaching the Black & Gold Derby Day Party 2018, our official scholarship fundraiser for the Delta Alpha Lambda Foundation, Inc. We will be partying for the purpose of raising funds to help Northeast Ohio students reach their educational goals.

When and where will the event be held this year?

Why is it “Derby” themed?

  • Started 144 years ago, The Kentucky Derby (www.kentuckyderby.com) is the first race within the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, where it is followed by the Preakness Stakes race and the Belmont Stakes race.

 

  • African-American horsemen played a vital role in shaping early American turf history, and the Kentucky Derby is no exception. The history of the Kentucky Derby and African-American horsemen are intertwined. The Derby and Churchill Downs owe a great deal to these men who helped shape America's greatest race. Thirteen of the 15 riders in the first Derby were African-American, while African-American reinsmen won 15 of the Derby's first 28 runnings.

How much are tickets?

  • General Admission is $75.00. No General Admission tickets sales at the door.  

  • VIP: $125.00 per VIP ticket, includes access to Cleveland area athletes and stars, luxury seating, private buffet and four complimentary drink tokens. 

Is this a tax-deductible purchase?

  •  Yes. The Delta Alpha Lambda Foundation, Inc. is an Ohio 501(c)(3)

What should I wear?

  • Derby Day is an opportunity to see the latest fashion. Both female and male attendees pull out all of the stops when selecting their Derby apparel.

 

  • For women, this is a chance to express her inner Southern Belle so take note and don't hold back when planning her Derby wardrobe!

 

  • For men, the Derby provides a splendid excuse for men to get just as dressed up and decked. The modern Derby man possesses an unparalleled color palette. Sun-drenched, tropical colors in bold stripes or busy plaid and bright pastels steal the limelight. Although, if you want a more polished look, a classic navy or seersucker blazer is always in style.
